Tamil newspapers

Tamil Nesan painted a negative picture of MIC's former deputy president, S Subramaniam as the daily claimed that Subra has been working against BN's interest.

Makkal Osai headlined local Umno leaders in Hulu Selangor opposing the notion of G Palanivel being the BN candidate in the upcoming elections.

Chinese newspapers

Both Oriental Daily and China Press highlighted the ‘Whistleblower Protection Bill' that tabled in Parliament yesterday. The bill is aimed at protecting those who reveal corruption and malpractice in both public and private sectors.

Nanyang Siang Pau reported that Pos Malaysia will raise its domestic postal rates for the first time in 18 years effective from 1st July. The stamp's price for standard mail weighing up to 20g will be increased from 30sen to 60 sen.

Sin Chew Daily frontpaged the announcement by Minister in Prime Minister's Department Koh Tsu Koon that the cabinet has agreed to set up an "Inter-religious Understanding Committee" to discuss controversial issue between religions.

All the major Chinese newspapers also speculated on possible candidate to hold MCA's appointed posts that is soon to be announced today by the party president Chua Soi Lek. Chua's men are expected to be appointed to important posts, including Kong Cho Har as the secretary-general and Tan Chai Ho as the treasurer.

New Straits Times opined that the introduction of a Sexual Offenders Registry should be probed from all aspects as its implementation would not be the same as the United States, United Kingdom and other Western countries that have such registry.
