Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) made an official apology to subscribers of its broadband Internet service, Streamyx, after a country-wide service disruption yesterday at 5.30pm.
Though service was restored for most customers in an hour, according to the Star , some subscribers were Internet-less until 10pm.
Apologising for "any inconvenience", TM did not divulge specifics on its site as to the cause of the disruption.
However, on its official Twitter account @TMCorp, TM attributed the failure to a major routing or DNS issue that brought down domestic and international links.
Restoration of Internet services
The company also said that it would continue to monitor the situation, thanking customers for their "understanding and patience". Customers were also advised to call TM at its support number or to e-mail support at help@tm.com.my for service-related problems.
Yesterday, irate Streamyx subscribers resorted to alternative Internet connections to vent their anger at TM over Twitter and Internet forums.
