Zaid: I can win over Hulu S'gor Malays

Yobama: Why should we invest in billion-dollar submarines? Why indeed. The answer should be obvious. It is the most lucrative investment in terms of commissions and kickbacks to the few Umno ministers and their cronies.

It does not matter if the rakyat is not going to see a sen of the 'profits' in this investment. These are the people who cry out 'Ketuanan Melayu' when it actually means ‘Ketuanan aku'.

Wfcoolie: I can only pray that the people of Hulu Selangor open their eyes and heart to this gentleman with conscience and principle - he's the kind we need in our Parliament. This Malay gentleman holds to his belief to help the poor and this is what the people in the country need. Not those who preach As and do Bs, and swayed to the breeze of the moment.

Isana: "I represent BN, I represent the brand of 1Malaysia," said P Kamalanathan of MIC. He also mentioned that he vowed to take back the federal seat, formerly a BN stronghold, and deliver it to Najib Razak as gift for his first year in office.

Compare this with "I am not seeking popularity over principles. If I am unpopular for something that is true, then I accept the rakyat's decision. I will not sway from my fundamental struggle," said Zaid Ibrahim of PKR.

I think it is obvious who will make a better MP. Voters of Hulu Selangor, please make the right choice. Save Malaysia, not 1Malaysia.

Voter-get-Voters campaign for GE13: The real traitors to the Malays are the handfuls of Umnoputras who stole billions of ringgit from their own kind. And most, if not all, Umno members themselves are conned big time by their so-called leaders.

Govindasamy: Zaid, you have an golden opportunity to proof your worth with Malay voters in Hulu Selangor. Barisan Nasional has plenty of looted money to throw around. With Pakatan Rakyat's limited financial resources you should convince the long-term benefits of a corrupt free and honest Pakatan government over short-term monetary gain from the government.

Amaso: Unlike Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, things coming from Zaid Ibrahim's mouth are sensible and non-insulting.

On another note, Muhyiddin says the majority Malays in Hulu Selangor are conservative and would not accept the liberal Zaid. However, neither ‘conservative' nor ‘liberal' is the main issue here.

The issue is they want change, and that was why they voted PKR in last GE. To continue the change and to see the change bear fruits, they will vote for Zaid.

Hindraf not a factor, says BN man

Toh SP: Remember what S Samy Vellu said in 2000 during the Lunas by-election? He vowed in Lunas that he would never return to Kuala Lumpur if MIC loses in the Lunas by-election. He ran back even before the by-election result was announced. So come on, my Hindraf brothers. Show your relevance and let this guy eat humble pie.

Not Confused: As is usual in by-elections, a good number of the voters will be swayed by the goodies that will be heaped on them in the run-up to the election. It's so predictable. It's time that the rural population join the rest of us in the 21st century and wake up from their perpetual slumber.

Rubber Tapper: Hindraf is not an organisation. It is a consciousness. There are no leaders in it, and if they claim, it is because you call them. It will take much longer than required to diminish the Hindraf consciousness. It deals with the deep psyche of not just Indians but the majority of non-Umnos. It demands equal treatment, dignity and pride.

As long as Umno is centred on Islamisation and Ketuanan Melayu, not only Indians but the Chinese as well will be aligning with the Hindraf consciousness.

Allinthegame: Kamalanathan, be inclusive, You should not be carried away while talking to the media. Be a sober, healing, uniting youngster of the Indian community. Do not try to replicate the style of your bosses. You will get destroyed.

KayKay: The biggest enemy of Hindraf is not Umno but the Indians who are not members of the underclass. For decades, these Indians never lifted a finger to help their fellow Indians but were willing to play ball with the ruling elite by riding on the numbers of the Indian underclass.

It is in this context that Kamalanathan's comments should be seen. He, like the Samy Vellus of this world, like to imagine that Hindraf is not important because they feel threatened. The bigger problem is the ‘beggar thy neighbour' mindset of the Umno government.

This is a contradiction in terms considering that Dr Mahathir Mohamad used to promote the idea of ‘prosper thy neighbour' when he was prime minister. This is why he continuously harped on smart partnerships and win-win situations. Apparently, the Indians don't figure in all this.

So, as far as Umno is concerned when it comes to the Indians, it's "heads I win, tails you lose".

Anak Malaysia 2010: I've never voted BN before but I agree that Hindraf is not a factor anymore.
