Independent candidates Johan Mohd Diah and VS Chandran will be sacked by Umno and MIC for contesting the Hulu Selangor by-election.

Johan, a Shah Alam Umno Youth committee member and Chandran, the former Hulu Selangor MIC vice-chairman will face P Kamalanathan of BN and Zaid Ibrahim of PKR.

NONE Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin told Bernama that Johan would definitely be sacked by Umno.

"We will recommend his sacking to the Umno disciplinary board," said Khairy who is also BN Youth chief.

He believed that Johan ( left ) was sponsored to divide the Malay votes and was confident that it would not affect BN's chances.

MIC president S Samy Vellu said Chandran who served as vice-chairman from 2003 to 2009 would be expelled from the party.

Serious offence

He said Chandran had breached the party rules and principles by standing as an independent candidate in the by-election.

NONE "Chandran ( left ) was only suspended for a year and is still a party member. We will deliberate on this issue (sacking) in the next central working committee meeting," he said.

"This is a serious offence. In half a year, Chandran had acted in a manner detrimental to the party," Samy said adding he has the prerogative to sack those who work against party principles and ethics.

The by-election on April 25 is held following the death of the Zainal Abidin Ahmad of PKR on March 25 due to brain cancer.
