The unruly behaviour of opposition supporters during the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election nomination process yesterday is unacceptable, said Terengganu MB Ahmad Said.

"I was saddened to observe how they (opposition supporters) cursed and hurled stones at BN supporters, injuring several people.

"Is this their so-called struggle to uphold Islam?" Said ( right ) was quoted by Bernama as saying when met at the Sultan Mahmud Airport in Terengganu today.

   

Said urged voters to take into account the opposition supporters' rowdiness before casting their votes in the by-election.

   

Ahmad also reminded PAS that opposition candidate Zaid Ibrahim had once sued the Pas-led Kelantan state government over its plan to implement the hudud law (Islamic capital punishment).

"They are not rational as they can change their mindset to suit the occasion," said Ahmad.

   

He also said BN Terengganu would deploy 100 party workers for the by-election campaign.

   

Zaid, who is a former minister in the Prime Minister's Department, is pitted against BN's P Kamalanathan, who is MIC information chief, and independents VS Chandran, who is a former Hulu Selangor MIC vice-chairman, and Johan Mohd Diah, a businessman and Shah Alam Umno youth exco member.
