The opposition pact has maintained a tight lid on the identity of their candidate for the upcoming Sibu by-election.

At a press conference in Sibu tonight, their leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said it was still too early to name their candidate but they had basically decided that the person would be from DAP.

He said the purpose of the press conference was only to announce a state-level Pakatan Rakyat comprising PKR, PAS, DAP and SNAP.

DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said the party would announce its candidate "at the right time, right place and right forum".

The Sibu by-election was called following the death of its incumbent MP Robert Lau Hoi Chew from cancer on April 9.
