"Technically speaking, Chandran is still an MIC member and he shouldn't
stand as an independent candidate in the by-election.
"This is a serious offence.
"I have the prerogative to sack those who work against party principles and ethics," he told Bernama .
Chandran is currently under a one-year suspension until Oct 1 this year.
He will face Barisan Nasional candidate P. Kamalanathan, Zaid Ibrahim of PKR and another independent candidate, Johan Mohd Diah, a Shah Alam Umno Youth committee member, in the parliamentary seat by-election.
It is held following the death of the incumbent MP Datuk Zainal Abidin
Ahmad of PKR on March 25 from brain cancer.
