Kamalanathan wants BN to adopt clean campaign
The BN candidate for the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election, P Kamalanathan, said adopting a clean and transparent campaign would prevent lies from being spread.
The BN candidate for the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election, P Kamalanathan, said adopting a clean and transparent campaign would prevent lies from being spread.
He said from his experience in previous by-elections, slanders had frequently been adopted to fish for votes besides bringing down the candidate's character.
"Based on past campaigns, spreading lies was a big mistake which should be avoided.
"I have told our BN machinery that we will only campaign in a clean manner based on my past achievements, what the BN can do, and what Kamalanathan can do if given the opportunity by the voters," he said in the talk show "Soal Jawab" aired by TV3 Monday night.
When asked about his pledges to the people of Hulu Selangor, Kamalanathan said the provision of basic amenities would be given emphasis during his campaign.
He said if he were to win, his priority would be to provide adequate basic amenities, the development of vacant land in Hulu Selangor and the construction of the new campus for Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
"The development of vacant land and the UiTM campus is perceived to be able to stimulate industrial growth in the area and capable of creating business and job opportunities," he said.
Kamalanathan, who is the MIC information head, will face PKR candidate Datuk Zaid Ibrahim in the by-election on Sunday after both independent candidates VS Chandran and Johan Md Diah withdrew on Monday.
