Three weeks after he was freed of a charge of submitting a false invoice, Wong Chuan How, special aide to Selangor state

executive councillor Ronnie Liu, was acquitted and discharged by the Shah Alam Sessions Court today of criminal breach of trust involving RM5,000.

Judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh held that the prosecution had failed to make out a prima facie case against him and ordered that his surety be returned to him.

The prosecution, led by deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Mohd Baharuddin Ahmad Kasim, called nine witnesses.

Wong, 51, was charged with criminal breach of trust involving a cheque for a RM5,000 allocation to organise a meeting of the residents association and members of the Sungai Pelek village development and security committee at the Sepang district office on Feb 19 last year.

The charge carries a jail term of one to 10 years and whipping and liability of a fine on conviction.

On April 2, the same court acquitted and discharged Wong of a charge of submitting a false allocation form and invoice for the supply of 2,500 car flags for RM2,500, also without calling for his defence.

Wong, who was represented by counsel Imran Hadzalie Abdul Hamid, however, faces another CBT charge involving RM2,500 which is being tried in another court.

He told reporters later that he was happy that he had been cleared of this charge.
