Ronin: Brother, if BN can't make much change in the tens of years they were in power, what makes you think you can develop Hulu Selangor?

Pakatan Rakyat has merely been ruling Selangor for two years, but they have made a considerably huge impact, especially on people's welfare. So why should the constituents elect you?

Multi Racial: P Kamalanathan seems to be dissociating himself from what BN did in the past. The good news is that he's being honest about it and he knows those (things) are bad. The bad news is, what can he do? It's all about the party. If he wins, it means BN wins, and it will be the same as the past 50 years.

KSN: Kamalanathan, you bragged elsewhere that you have been in MIC for 26 years and that you know things. You have been in S Samy Vellu's team for so long. Let me ask you a simple question: What can you do for the people of Hulu Selangor, in particular Indians, that BN, Umno and MIC could not/did not do for the past 53 years?

Is it not highly questionable whether you can deliver where Umno and MIC have failed? Or are you saying that because you are Umno's candidate you can do better? That's highly unlikely. You will become even more subservient to Umno than Samy.

SusahKes: If you do not know how or why things went wrong before, then how do you propose to solve them? Management 101 lesson no 1: Know why things went wrong so that you can diagnose the problem and avoid making the same mistake. Your answer is a typical tai-chi manoeuver.

You are a "weak" candidate. Anwar Ibrahim isn't campaigning because of you, he's campaigning because of Umno. Zaid has put it in perspective - the fight is really between PKR and Umno, not against MIC.

Arul Inthirarajah: If he's not a lemah candidate, then why are PM Najib Abdul Razak, DPM Muhyiddin Yassin, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali all needed to campaign for him?

Perhaps the journalists need to know how to ask the questions, not just applaud at every tid-bit thrown at them.

Victor Johan: ‘You're talking about development, basic facilities such as decent housing, proper clothing, enough food on the table, education, health and so on.'

It looks like our novice aspirant does not know the functional difference between a local councillor, a state assemblyperson and a member of parliament.

Kamalanathan, are you campaigning for a councillor position? If so, then quit this contest, and ask the Selangor government to appoint you as an NGO representative. Or go meet Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim.

Ng Tze Yeng: Aren't the local issues are for the state assemblypersons to resolve? As an MP, you are supposed to deal with national issues.

After 52 years, we cannot give you any more time to learn how to undo the damage to our country - corruption, human rights, and the judiciary. It's too late to learn. You have to hit the ground running.

It looks like the learned lawyer is a better bet for the MP job. So, please go, learn and come back later, yah?

Viknesvaran: Thank you for suggesting that BN for the last 18 years under G Palanivel never provided the basic amenities for the people of Hulu Selangor. The people must then vote for PKR since, as you correctly stated, BN has failed.

Without BN, you are nothing but just another MIC man.

AkuMelayu: Well done, Kamalanathan. You handled the interview superbly. You deserve a standing ovation. Reserve it for D-day. The seat is yours. Don't bother all the comments by these born losers. They are like broken records, commenting without any quality.

Malaysiakini , sad to say that your comment box does not reflect that of a news portal anymore but more like a bloggers comment box, full of foul language and profanity and personal attacks.

Yuvan: The interview shows clearly that Kamalanathan did not fare well. His responses to most of the questions were without depth, just like a majority of our parliamentarians. He also seemed to have lost his cool when he answered some questions. So much for his public relations knowledge and experience.

His statement "ask about what I can do, not what BN does" is absolutely funny. He is contesting for BN. Can he promise the voters anything that he can do without the BN doing it for him, that is, if he wins.

Also he may want to pretend that he is not involved in Umno's smear campaign against Zaid Ibrahim, his opponent. Can Kamalanathan instruct Umno to stop the smear campaign? He cannot do that because he knows well that his "ask me what I can do" will only work with Umno giving its orders.

Also, Kamalanathan will never be able to talk on current and national issues, even if he becomes an MP. Have we ever seen or heard of any BN component party MP talking sensibly about national issues?

Gandhi: Many MPs have come and gone and all have serviced their constituency within their limits. You can't do more than most of them.

Do you think you can outdo Samy? He'll finish you off if you become popular. Don't dream that it's going to be a breeze when you become an MP to serve the masses in Hulu Selangor.

Cala: Kamalanathan talks as if he can do wonders all by himself. He has this simple mindset of what happen before him is none of his business and therefore is of no concern to him.

He also ignores the fact that he is, if he wins, operating under the rigid institutional framework of Umno-led BN coalition. His feeble voice will be drowned in the ocean of the racist Umno.
