PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has challenged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to “be a man” and reveal the contents of conversations with two MPs formerly from PKR in Washington DC.

“If Najib has something to say, then he should be man enough to say it,” said Anwar in a three-paragraph press statement today.

NONE Anwar ( left ) was responding to Najib’s speech in Bukit Sentosa on Wednesday, where the premier claimed that two former MPs from PKR had came to his room one night and “revealed everything” about Anwar and PKR.

Najib was referring to Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Mohd Hashim and Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin, who were his travel companions to the US.

“I know everything... even up to (the opposition’s) underwear,” he quipped.

Reacting to this, Anwar said Najib was attempting to castigate the opposition while at the same time refusing to do so openly.

“It is very demeaning for a leader of a political party, let alone the Prime Minister to hide behind turncoats like Zahrain and Zulkifli,” he said.

Altantuya spectre returns

Contrasting himself to Najib ( below ), Anwar said he does not try to disguise his accusations.

NONE “I have already openly accused Najib of being tainted with the Scorpene corruption scandal and the failure to deal with all the unanswered questions in the Altantuya murder, not to mention the other issues plaguing the nation and the people.

“Najib should answer them instead of indulging in scurrilous gossip and rumour mongering,” he added.

BN has been on a no-holds-barred campaign to pain PKR candidate Zaid Ibrahim as an alcohol drinker and someone who dabbled in horse races.

Their attacks have also focused on Anwar’s apparent links with Israel, in retaliation for his expose over Apco Worldwide - the federal government’s PR consultant - and its links to the Zionist regime.

This has uncharacteristically put PKR on the defensive throughout most of the campaign.
