Batu MP Tian Chua was called up by the police today to record his statement regarding a doctored photograph showing Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak dining with political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda and slain Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The police report regarding the picture which was posted on his blog, was made three years ago by the Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma).

NONE This is the second time the police are recording his statement in the investigation. The first was in 2007 .

The PKR strategic director ( centre ) went to the Sentul police station at 1pm today with his lawyer Jason Wong.

On arrival, he was questioned by an investigating officer who wanted to know if he was the one who had doctored the picture.

However, Tian Chua told Malaysiakini that he did not answer any of the questions and hence the session ended after only 30 minutes.

"I was told that the investigating officer had received instructions to complete the investigation by the end of this month," he said.

Yesterday, Tian Chua was contacted by the police requesting his presence at the Sentul police station.

He then requested for the session to take place next week as he is busy with the Hulu Selangor by-election but the police insisted he show up today.

Reason behind the haul up

Tian Chua suggested that the reason why the police had started investigating the case again is because of Najib.

"In 2007, Najib was only the deputy premier, but now he is the prime minister and has the power to ask the police to continue its investigation on me," he explained

"It could also be because the French government is investigating the case of the submarine purchases which involves Najib (as he was the defence minister then) and this is retaliation on his part," he alleged.

He added that the timing of the investigation is suspicious considering the Hulu Selangor by-election is just around the corner.
