But the most troubling question is that the courts are dancing to the tune of BN - a very, very precarious situation.

Lahore San: It's a carbon copy of the prosecution's case during the Lunas by-election when scores of Pakatan Rakyat politicians were charged with illegal assembly and ‘kidnapping' when they detained busloads of phantom voters and brought them to the Kulim police station.

That was a first since Pakatan had inside info. Pakatan campaigners had managed to gather all sorts of info and were about to call these ‘voters' as witnesses. Right from the start, everyone knew it was a ‘no case'. First the magistrate was changed three times. Then the police were contradicting themselves, one even misplacing his investigation notebook.

It was expected that the case would be thrown out without the defence being called so Umno and the police would not have to face the ‘phantom voters' in court. And so it was. The way the evidence was presented then was reminiscent of this present PKR duo's case. The judge had no choice but to acquit.

Tired : There is no need to get agitated over the ruling. Granted, many have predicted the court would throw out the case as a favour to these assemblypersons for quitting PKR. But that prediction was based on emotion and anger unlike the court's, which I believe, came to a decision based on the facts presented in court.

If there is no prima facie case, then there is no prima facie case. The best thing to do is to accept the decision and move on. No point getting riled up over something which you don't have any control over.

Lim Chong Leong: Once the time period for the prosecution to file the appeal lapses, and Umno no longer can exert any pressure over them, these two can rejoin PKR and Perak is recaptured. Checkmate, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

I bet if BN had so much as a picture of Anwar digging his nose, they would fall over each other to get the picture processed and disseminated through every possible means.

Barrister-At-Law: Why should Najib do that (spill it all out)? He will do it in installments and when it has the greatest strategic effect - that is what we have learnt from Anwar himself. Why does not Anwar come clean and admit that the 81 MPs who secara resmi had crossed over was a lie.

Wanderer AUS: This Umno prime minister has the gall to throw mud at his opponents when he has a closet full of skeletons. Mr PM, take up Anwar's challenge and openly debate him. The rakyat would like to see you being transparent rather than seeing you behaving like a dubious character, which is very unbecoming of a chief executive of a nation.

Daniel Tan: I think Najib cannot act until Rosmah Mansor gives the go ahead. Remember Najib's NKRA stands for ‘Najib Kerja, Rosmah Arah'.

Adcin : Of course Zaid still has a chance. Supporters of Zaid Ibrahim are unsure that he can make it because of the character attacks by BN and also the media painting BN as the favourite. Conversely, if only one-third are sure, it means that the other two-thirds most probably don't like BN. Think about it.

Suhakam declares lawyers' arrest unlawful, cops rapped

Artchan: The police are not above the law in most countries. In Malaysia, the police are the law.

My Kiasu: So what now, Suhakam? Chances are the two police officers will be transferred and then rewarded with a promotion for being champions to the police cause and dutiful servants of the government and attorney-general.

Cala: Refresher courses on human rights are for the police. In the West, the people appreciate the concept that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is always in their mind to device ways so that their police are given sufficient power to carry out their duties, but at the same time, their police would not get swollen- headed.

In this particular case, it is obvious that the Brickfields police cannot understand the role of lawyers in a civil society. To the simple-minded Brickfields police, any gathering of more than five persons is in violation of the law. Suhakam may want to conduct refresher courses for the police to ensure no recurrence of this episode.

Tmf : Violated the human rights of officers of the courts and no punishment? Then what does Suhakam expect the police officers to learn from their wrongdoing? We, the taxpayers, do not want to pick up the bill from the civil suits that will follow.

We want the police to be dismissed. These arrogant lawless police do not deserve to wear their uniform paid for by the taxpayers' hard-earned money.

Ong Guan Sin: What action is only going to be taken against these officers who thought they were above the law? Nothing. End of rule of law of Bolehland. The police are the law, it seems.
