Selangor chief police officer Khalid Abu Bakar denied allegations that the police was in cohorts with any political party in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election.

Khalid said this was because the police acted equally against everyone.

"Since April 17 till today, we have detained 26 supporters from both sides for various offences including having dangerous weapons, hurting people, rioting and damaging posters," he told reporters at the Kuala Kubu Bahru Police College today.

Voting centres will open at 8am tomorrow.

Khalid said the number of police reports received since April 13 was 167 and only 30 were being investigated.

"The reports relate to treason, vehicle damage, and offences under the Elections Act," he said.

KKB under heavy security

Khalid also reminded residents of Kuala Kubu Bahru that the area will be under heavy security beginning midnight tonight till midnight tomorrow.

"Heavy vehicles are not allowed in except buses and the like. The passage to the town may be made one-way in stages as we see the need," he said.

Khalid advised people who had no business being there to not congest the voting centres so that polling can proceed smoothly.
