BN continues losing Chinese support

The Chinese - not so, and therein is your worry. The rest of Selangor is made up of not only of the same Chinese-type who rejected BN in Hulu Selangor; it also contains Malay, Chinese and Indian urbanites who are fed-up with Umno/BN and the money politics you guys are preoccupied with.

You win today - pat yourselves on the back. Come to the Klang Valley area and you know you'll be whipped.

The only strategy left is for Najib & Co to recover their two-thirds majority is with more re-delineation of constituencies. You think we don't know this? The fight ain't over. The fire will not die.

K Gen: Don't think the Chinese vote can be bought with goodies during elections. The Chinese have woken up. Nothing less than concrete policy changes to ensure fairer opportunities and treatment of all races will bring back the Chinese vote. A cheap slogan like ‘1Malaysia’ backed by nothing won't do it.

What a:

Money and promises cannot buy the Chinese votes other than MCA and Gerakan fellows. Umno has taken the country for granted with impunity and has poisoned the minds of the youth on the issue of inequality.

Enough is enough. They have won this battle with such unfairness but have yet to win the war. Let them gloat over this, but wait for the next general election.

Multi Racial:

This Hulu Selangor election shows 1) Chinese voters cannot be bought, 2) Indians, as Raja Petra Kamaruddin pointed out, still think racially. Due to financial difficulties, they are forced to choose BN; 3) Malay votes are still split; 4) Hulu Selangor is going to be like Ijok. BN won marginally in this by-election, but will lose badly in the general election; and 5) if BN doesn't reform, they will be at end of the road by the next general election.

Yuvan: The Chinese community is not so much concerned with "bread and butter" issues. They are more concerned with serious political and economic issues that require long-term solutions which the MCA has failed to resolve.

The Chinese community knows that the MCA has become a puppet in the hands of Umno and it had sold its dignity and respect to Umno long ago. The MCA must shed its 'wimpy' image and sincerely become far-sighted to be able to find permanent resolutions for a number of political and economic issues.

The Chinese voters cannot be hoodwinked with some patchwork solutions by the Umno/BN government for many of the country's ills.

        

Sherman Wong: If the rhetoric from Umno gets louder against the Chinese, or favourable policies towards the Indian are implemented, the Chinese will have nobody but themselves to blame.

'Chinese are not beggars'

Jimmy Ng: Go ahead and withdraw all the support that was promised to the Chinese and Indian communities in Hulu Selangor. Such is the mentality of these self-anointed and racist leaders. I wonder if this is the kind of government leadership that we can look forward to?

Ibrahim Ali is not even a member of Umno or any other component party of BN. Who is he to tell BN government what to do, not to mention how to spend the tax payers' money?

BN, including every member of all its component parties, should immediately disassociate itself from this racist. And if BN chooses to remain a bedfellow with this recalcitrant, every single Chinese in Malaysia, politically-aligned or otherwise, should disassociate himself/ herself from the BN. This is not about politics. It’s a matter of self-respect.

We need people like Ibrahim Ali to remind the non-Malays that their support is not required by Umno. The Indians have the shortest memories among all races in Malaysia.

They forget the 53 years of marginalisation whenever Umno throws them bread crumbs to build temples and schools.

Najib knows what the Indians want and he throws government money at them, and viola! - the votes come in.
