Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Mohamed Ali lodged a police report today to defend himself against an allegation that he was reading a sermon that contained political elements during Friday prayers at the As-Salam Mosque in Bukit Sentosa, Hulu Selangor on April 23.

He said the report, lodged at the district police headquarters here at about 3pm, was to refute the allegation that he had used the mosque as a political platform during the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election campaign.

"The allegation is not true and I did not go against the order of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah," he told reporters here today.

Hasan also said he wanted to clarify that he had not neglected the

obligation required for the sermon as alleged.

This was because for the past 40 years that he had read the sermon, there had been no report made on the matter, he pointed out.

"The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) official who was present at the mosque had also confirmed that I had not omitted any obligation pertaining to the sermon then," he added. - Bernama
