Kerk to resume duties as DAP sec-gen tomorrow
DAP secretary-general Kerk Kim Hock who has been on leave since April this year to seek treatment for rectal cancer will officially resume his duties from tomorrow, his political secretary Loke Siew Fook said today.
Kerk who was diagnosed to have rectal cancer on April 3 has had his tumour removed in an operation on April 10.
He was discharged on April 18 and has been recuperating from the surgery at his Melaka home since then. He has also completed all his follow-up treatment which included 25 radiotherapy sessions and six cycles of chemotherapy sessions.
Doctor satisfied
His doctor is satisfied with his health condition now which permits him to resume his normal work schedule, Loke said in a statement.
During Kerk's leave, his deputy in the party Chong Eng was appointed acting secretary-general.
Kerk also thanked all who have given him and his family kind words of support and comfort during the treatment period.
His first official duty is to officiate the opening of the DAP Negeri Sembilan 2002 State Ordinary Convention tomorrow in Seremban.
