PKR Ipoh Barat chief Fauzi Muda, 51, today announced he was quitting the party, alleging that the Perak PKR leadership practised factionalism and conspiracy, did not accept criticism and advocated a culture of disunity.

He also claimed that the Ipoh Barat branch would be dissolved as more than two-thirds of the committee members would be quitting the party.

"Only about 10 of the 28 present committee members will be left as they will also follow suit (and quit), along with the women leaders and about 500 members," he told a news conference at the PKR Ipoh Barat office in Bercham, Ipoh.

Fauzi, who said he still respected the PKR national leadership, said the primary reason for his quit decision was a letter dated May 4 suspending his status as a delegate to the party's congress at the end of this month.

Replying to a question, he said he had no plan to join any other political party but would be active in a non-governmental organisation (NGO) to be set up soon, the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Tindakan Suara Rakyat Perak.

Also present at the news conference was the member of parliament for Bagan Serai, Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri, who had quit PKR in March to become an independent elected representative.
