Gobala risks losing MP seat after RM3,000 fine

Malaysia, in this era, is one of such sophisticated governments. It is amazing that the kind of talent and ingenuity that can germinate from insatiable greed and lust for power and wealth.

Even more phenomenal is how barbaric and heartless human beings can be just to attain or hold on to whatever their worldly desires may be such that it can practically drive them to do anything - be it fitnah /slander, deception, betrayal, conspiracy, bribery, wrongful incarceration or even murder.

My hats off to Umno and BN for demonstrating to the world this eye-opening phenomenon. For your ‘noble deeds', we pray that in time you will receive from God exactly what you deserve.

Cala: We are one of the few democratic countries in this world wherein the executive display authoritarian tendencies. In fact, in many ways, we are worse than China.

At the height of the 1989 Tiananmen student uprising, about 100,000 students were found occupying Tiananmen Square. Here, the police found it expedient not to tolerate even for half-a-day the dancing of 30 Keadilan members during Thaipusam celebration in Georgetown on Jan 29, 2002.

As I see it, the executive is really fearful of their people. Why?

Yuvan: All that N Gobalakrishnan had to do was to give a lengthy press statement accusing PKR of all sorts of things, that he had lost confidence in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, and that he was considering leaving the opposition coalition, and I bet such a case would not even have to come to the courts. Gobala can happily keep his MP job and enjoy some extra perks and benefits - courtesy of the BN government.

Opposition politicians, especially parliamentarians and state assemblymen, who have been charged for offences - it doesn't matter if the offence was trivial or was committed some eight or 18 years ago - they just have to 'switch camps' and they could get to keep their MP and assemblyman posts without worry.

Alexander Yuan: It took the courts eight years to decide on such a simple offence? No wonder our justice system is getting worse by the day. We all know why this ‘fine' was only imposed now. It is all BN's dirty work to force a buy - sorry, I mean - by-election.

Ganasan K Gopala: What was his offence? Dancing during Thaipusam with Keadilan banners? There were thousand of devotees dancing during Thaipusam, but no action were taken against any of them. Gobalakrishnan was charged because he questioned the police.

Is questioning the police a crime in Malaysia? Why was he fined RM3,000? Did the magistrate get any orders from higher echelons?

Beetle: It's very obvious that the corrupt BN government is going all out to clinch back its two-thirds majority by crooked ways. The reason behind the desperate means to win back the two-thirds majority is to enable this corrupt government to do the gerrymandering again in their favour to retain power.

The people of Sibu should not allow this to happen by voting for the opposition this Saturday. The rakyat need to really wake up and not be fooled by this corrupt government anymore.

Satinah Osman: More often than not, the rakyat blames the judiciary for everything that goes 'wrong'. A deeper insight will reveal that magistrates, Sessions Court judges, High Court judges and of course the noble Court of Appeal judges have other 'forces' to contend with and answer to.

There is no way that Pakatan will be able to stop this when it comes into power because it may perforce to adopt the same tactics to cling to power for the sake of the business warlords who actually use our politicians as puppets.

Rayfire: I wonder whether Wee Choo Keong's decision to quit PKR has anything to do with this issue? The timing is just too suspicious. As BN closes in in achieving the two-thirds majority, the price goes up for those who becomes BN-friendly independent MP.

Lim Chong Leong: Next one to be hit will be Batu MP Tian Chua for biting a policeman's ear. After that maybe one or two more defections, and Najib will have his two-third majority again. The devil works in mysterious ways.
