The country's industrial output in August rose 5.9 percent from a year ago due to growth in the manufacturing, mining and electricity sectors, the Department of Statistics said today.

However output was down 3.2 percent from July this year due to declines in all three sectors.

In July, output rose 6.9 percent year-on-year and was up 10.4 percent from June according to statistics reported last month.

In the eight months to August, the industrial production index rose 2.6 percent from a year earlier. AFP
