Pray tell, PM, what's Tee Yong's qualifications?

PM: Tee Yong chosen based on merit
Anonymous: I believe MCA has more experienced leaders than Chua Tee Yong. It's the same as MIC - S Samy Vellu and Vell Paari. Dr Chua Soi Lek, are you sure about there being no other candidate available? If you like to seek revenge against the people that have sabotaged you, well, this is not the way. Don't turn MCA into another MIC.
Multi Racial: If it is based on merit, why was Tee Yong not chosen in the first place after the general election? After all, his qualifications and experience remain the same.
The truth is that Chua's son was chosen because Chua with his tainted background is not suitable to be in the cabinet. It was a compromise. Anyway, I would rather have Chua's son be appointed a minister than some of those other jokers who were appointed ministers, especially those with integrity and credibility issues.
I feel sorry for Ong Tee Keat. Firstly, he was screwed by his loyalists. Then he was screwed by his party. Now he's screwed by the MCA president and PM.
Lim Chong Leong: So what is his track record and qualifications that make him such a suitable candidate for deputy minister post, other than the qualification of ‘anak bapak'? Please, Najib, do explain. Otherwise, it smells of wheeling and dealing and you are compromising cabinet positions for your political survival.
Jamal: Does that mean Khairy Jamaluddin doesn't fulfill the criteria at all to fill the post of a deputy minister? Khairy you might as well just quit. The powers-that-be see you as being good only at being a glorified Oxford Rempit, screaming in front of the US embassy.
Fence-sitter: Tee Keat is much more capable than this greenhorn Tee Yong, but he was dropped. OTK is more acceptable to the rakyat as he is a leader that dared to speak up. What PM means by ‘qualification' is that you must toe the line and be a yes-man.
Tell the Truth: It is obvious that the PM wants to make sure that Chua Soi Lek does not talk too much or criticise him too much, or else his son gets it. Now the rakyat can hear less of the MCA ‘porn star' to ensure his son's position is not jeopardised. Good theory, yah?
3com Msc-Jkl: Umno, MCA and PKR are the same: MCA - father and son; PKR - father and daughter (or maybe wife); Umno = Abdullah Ahamd Badawi and Khairy.
This show that politicians don't trust other people to work with, only relatives. Is this the situation in Malaysia that we can't find anyone trustworthy at all? If the laws (against nepotism) were strong, maybe things could be different.
Selcat grills KSSB official over fat bonuses
Habib RAK: It was due to Kapar MP S Manikavasagam's tantrums that the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) was initiated. At today's hearing, it was clearly exposed that there are many weakness, gaps and loopholes that need to be addressed.
Exco Yaakob Sapari, Land and Mines Department director Abdul Nasir Hasan and Kuala Semesta Sendirian Berhad (KSSB) chairperson Abdul Shukor Nagor all got grilled. This only happened due to Kapar MP's relentless antics.
Even though his approach could have been more refined, the objective was met. Something good will come out of this hearing. Already, Abdul Shukor is tongue-tied to explain the ‘interim' two months' bonus just after four months of operations.
Fortunately for him, the inquiry was adjourned soon after. Only the Selcat chairperson Teng Chang Khim had questioned him so far. The others are yet to grill him.
Upyes: Definitely there's some hanky-panky going on with Kuala Semesta. Sand-mining and logging have always been dodgy businesses involving lots of bribery and environmental destruction. To allow bureaucrats and entrepreneurs out for a fast buck to manage these activities is asking for trouble.
Some strange game seems to be going on with Manickavasagam. He's always been a bit abrasive and seems to enjoy throwing public tantrums - but his allegations about Kuala Semesta appear justified, even if his way of resolving the issue is overly sensational and not particularly helpful to the Pakatan Rakyat state government.
Bapak Toyol: Can KSSB offer me a job? I have been working with a PLC (private-limited company) for the last 30 years and the company's profit is in billions, but I only get two to three months' bonus despite all the hard work.
Beetle: The KSSB management's decision to give two months' bonus after four months in operation and subsequently, four months' bonus in the second year, is the most ridiculous decision I've heard.
Is this what we call accountability? Is this how PKR manages the rakyat's money? What difference are you from the corrupt BN government? Someone must be held accountable for making this ‘generous' decision. MB Khalid Ibrahim must take drastic action as a deterrent to other state officials, and the action must be made known to the rakyat.
Remember the rakyat is watching you closely. Pakatan must prove that they are able to govern according to the competency, accountability and transparency policy of the Penang government.
Mugilan appeals sacking, GAS stops criticising Samy
Call me Jibby: It's too late to apologise to S Samy Vellu now, V Mugilan. A peace plan won't work. Save your time and effort. Even if you wanted to join the opposition, nobody would accept you. Time to create another Indian political party, namely 'Parti Anti-Samy'.
Keturunan Malaysia: For me, it is a case of one smart aleck taking poor innocent Indians for a ride - nothing to lose and everything to gain. The knockout blow was delivered by Umno after subtly giving the green light. Then they just pulled the rug out of this guy's feet.
After hitting a dead-end and running out of gas, and 'advised' not to cause further trouble, he becomes another walking dead. In return, Umno gets to have a much-tamed Samy and one that will only bark if he is being allowed to. Even then, with a given well-written script on what to say.
