A 14-year-old teenage girl became the 88th victim of Influenza A(H1N1) thus far said a statement from the Health Ministry.

Director-general of Health Dr Ismail Merican said the latest death involved a teenage girl from Perak who was not in the risk group.

"Medical reports and clinical tests confirmed that the death was due to "severe bilateral pneumonia" caused by the Influenza A(H1N1) virus infection," he said in a statement here today.

swine flu h1n1 flu pandemic 180509 02 He added that four Influenza Like Illness (ILI) cluster cases was reported in four countries over the last 24 hours.

The four cases were from Lake Kenyir Resort and Spa (Terengganu) which involved five people, Jalan Cenderamata, Kg Kurnia, Kebun Teh, Johor (2 people), Felda Lui Muda in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan (five people) and Jalan TU 61 Taman Tasik Utama Air Keroh, Melaka (six people).

Dr Ismail said the 48 new cases has increased the total number of Influenza A(H1N1) cases to 14,912 so far.

From the 532 ILI cases treated in hospitals throughout the country, 76 (14.3 percent) have been confirmed as A(H1N1) positive.
