Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he would leave it to the board of directors of the state's sand mining company, Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB), whether there should be a top management reshuffle in the company.

  

Khalid, however, said that KSSB's audit report had clearly indicated the steps to be taken to overcome weaknesses in the company. "The steps to improve and enhance KSSB'S administration are stated in its audit report.

  

This would help KSSB to address issues such as inefficiency within the company just like what is being done in other successful companies," he told reporters after closing an education jamboree at Universiti Industri Selangor (Unisel) near Kuala Selangor today.

  

Khalid said this in commenting on the conclusions made by Selangor's Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) in its three-day inquiry which ended on last Friday that it had found indications of mismanagement and loopholes in KSSB's administrative system.

  

Selcat had probed allegations by Kapar member of parliament S Manikavasagam of alleged corrupt activities involving senior officials of KSSB.

  

However, the initial findings of Selcat showed there was no evidence of corruption in KSSB as claimed by the MP.

Khalid said the Selcat hearing into the allegations was not final and that more witnesses could be called up to give testimony if the need arose.

  

He also said that action had already been taken against KSSB officers who were found to be inefficient even before the Selcat hearing started.

   

KSSB, a company involved in the sand and minerals industry, is wholly-owned by Menteri Besar Incorporated.
