The decision on Kinabatangan MP Bung Mokhtar Radin's bigamous marriage to actress Zizie Izette expected at the Syariah High Court today has been postponed.

The press corps had been waiting in front of the courtroom in Kuala Lumpur since early this morning but the high-profile couple did not turn up.

Only when Malaysiakini contacted their lawyer, Zulkifli Che Yong, that it was learnt that the the decision had been put off, and the date for the new hearing has yet to be set.

The couple had applied for a validation of their wedding registration under the Islamic Family Law Act 1984 on June 4.

‘Married' in bungalow

NONE Zizie and Bung "married" in a bungalow in Hulu Klang with a mas kahwin of RM80 and a dowry of RM31,000 in December last year.

They had both pleaded guilty on April 20 for entering into a bigamous marriage without the consent of the Syariah registrar.

The Lower Syariah Court sentenced Bung to a month's jail and a fine of RM1,000 in default of one month's jail on a second charge of abetting Zizie to marry without the consent of the courts on May 19.

He was then granted a stay of execution pending appeal.

Meanwhile, his 31-year-old wife was fined RM1,000 in default one month's jail under the first charge.

She, her three brothers and two others were also fined RM1,000 each in default six months' jail for abetting Bung.
