Leaders of Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) have accused MIC president S Samy Vellu of accumulating millions of ringgit in a Credit Suisse account under the alias of Dr Stansilau Van-Velau Sitten.
Holding up the documents at a press conference held in Petaling Jaya today, former central working committee member and ex-MIC Youth deputy head, V Mugilan (

), claimed that he possessed a telegraphic transfer statement proving that Samy Vellu had a total of US$815,900 (RM2.7million) in Credit Suisse as of 1982.
The amount, Mugilan said, was accumulated within three years of Samy Vellu being elected party president in 1979.
The money was allegedly transferred through NKM Holdings, which was then chaired by former MIC vice- president Karnail Singh Nijhar.
"I received an envelope containing the documents on June 7, together with a note stating that Samy to date has RM895 million in the stated account," he claimed.
However, Mugilan said he was not prepared to reveal the details in the documents for the time being.
Nijhar denies claims
Questioned about the veracity of the documents, he said: "It is up to the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the validity of the documents. Our interest is in only revealing them."
A copy of the Credit Suisse Singapore branch document on bank transfer and banker's cheque allegedly signed by Dr Stansilau Van-Velau Sitten, which was handed over to the media present, could not be independently verified.
In an immediate reaction, Nijhar denied Mugilan’s claims and challenged the latter to lodge a police report, failing which legal action would be instituted to clear his name.
Earlier, Mugilan also called on the government to investigate the matter.
"We want the money in Credit Suisse to be confiscated and dispersed to Maika shareholders," he added.
He said over RM100 million given to Indian students as loans under Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED) should also be converted to scholarships and the debts of AIMST university paid off.
Mugilan added that they will lodge a police report or send a memorandum to MACC next week to urge the authorities to investigate the matter immediately.
Also present at the press conference were G Kumar Amman and Mugilan's lawyer Rajasekaran Thiagarajan.
The GAS movement was launched last month to pressure Samy Vellu to step down earlier than in August or September next year.
