PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar said today five vice-president's posts should be created to balance the increasing duties of the leaders.

NONE He said three of the posts should be contested at the PAS muktamar and two appointed by the party president.

"The number of members increases all the time. This results in more responsibilities for the leaders and warrants the creation of more posts," he told reporters at the 56th PAS muktamar in Kota Baharu.

Allowing the party president to appoint two vice-presidents was to strike a balance in case all the three elected vice-presidents turned out to be women, he said, expressing the hope that his proposal would be tabled at the current meeting or at future muktamar.

The women's wing yesterday approved a motion to create another post of vice-president in recognition of their struggle and proposed having a fourth commissioner at the state level.

PAS currently has three elected vice-presidents.
