Top PAS veteran leader Hassan Shukri passed away at 2pm this afternoon at Hospital Selayang, Selangor.

NONE The former party deputy president ( left ) was admitted this morning, shortly after returning from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, where he had attended PAS 56th muktamar, party organ Harakahdaily reported.

According to the PAS mouthpiece, Ustaz Hassan, as he was called, had driven the car carrying him and two fellow PAS leaders from Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

They had stopped at Kuala Lipis, Pahang, after Hassan complained of chest pains, and arrived home around 10.30pm last night.

Admitted into the hospital at around 9am this morning, Hassan was then transferred to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He died about five hours later.

Before being deputy president, Hassan had previously occupied the post of PAS vice-president and secretary-general. He was also PAS Youth leader from 1971-1973 during the presidency of Mohd Asri Muda.

Harakahdaily reports Hassan as being among the critical players in the set-up of the PAS Supporters Wing for the party's non-Muslim members.

Funeral prayers for Hassan will be held at 8.30 am tomorrow at Surau Taman Melewar.

He will be buried at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Taman Selaseh 2 cemetary in Gombak, Selangor.
