The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) will help Kelantan boost its private sector investment under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP).

Its minister, Mustapa Mohamed said this would help the private

sector investment in the country to grow at 12.8 per cent or RM115 billion per annum under the 10MP.

"We want to bolster the private sector investment in the state to enable it to be in tandem with other states and not to continue to lag behind," he told reporters in Kota Baharu today.

He said the move was in line with the federal government's wish of ensuring that all levels of the society regardless of political leanings to enjoy economic prosperity and better standard of living.

"I had held several meetings with investors in the Pengkalan Chepa

Industrial Area to gather information on potential investments in the state.

"We will hold meetings with potential investors who are keen to invest in the state.

"However, we found that the investment climate in Kelantan is not encouraging. As such, there must be ongoing efforts, including that of the state government, to boost the private sector investment," he said.
