Jui Meng to return third Johor medal

Habib RAK: This is not worth our time to read and waste time on. We have bigger struggles. All these "titles" will die a natural death as time goes by. I don't care two hoots if you are a ‘Tun', ‘Tan Sri' or whatever. Only your deeds will earn our respect.

Just look at Tun Dr Mahathir Mahathir. Imagine the comments that will be written on his obituary. Remember Augustine Paul's obituary?

Cala: Is an honorific title held by an opposition leader considered a taboo in the Umno-led BN coalition? In the absence of any explanation from the Johor palace for recalling the three honorific titles bestowed on Chua Jui Meng, one can only deduce that things have changed in our political landscape as Pakatan Rakyat leaders have finally proven their worth as a substitutable coalition to the BN coalition.

As a result, under the influence of the latter, anything that further glorifies the Pakatan leadership is considered a taboo in the transition of power.

To me, despair not, Mr Chua. What matters is what you believe in and your value system. From a libertarian perspective, the less one gets of these earthly goods/symbols, the better. They are nothing but chains that limit one's ability to move around and to act in a manner that befits an honourable man.

Key Poh Ji: Chua Jui Meng (CJM), you are now a free man. This is another overwhelming victory for Pakatan and the rakyat. CJM, keep the power of change until the next 13 GE. The rakyat will see it through with strong support.

Tell the Truth: Perhaps all opposition MPs and state assembly representatives should return the Johor royalty's medals and whatever as a show of protest. The withdrawal should have come with an explanation. A sultan must earn his respect from the rakyat by carrying out his position in a just fashion and not be cowed by political forces. What a sham.

CJM, you are loved by the people more than they love the sultan anyhow, so no big deal. There is a crown of life waiting for you in heaven and which is given by the king of kings. The rakyat is waiting for the 13 th general election for a change. I wonder if Malaysia will become a republic one day at the rate things are going?

Rocky: The late Johor sultan did not see any reason to take away the awards that he conferred on Chua. In my humble opinion, the current sultan should respected his late highness' decisions, more so when there has been no crime committed by Chua.

Pissed off: To take back, without any explanation, something which was bestowed on others by his father is a sign of disrespect to his own father. If there was a valid reason, spell it out. Otherwise, the rakyat is certainly entitled to their suspicion... we do not need coy excuses from anybody's mouth.

Man: CJM, I am proud of you. You are a brave gentlemen who got the guts to ban smoking in public places. You can stand tall for your efforts. I salute you. PM Najib Razak, on the other hand, has no time for the rakyat.

Anonymous: All these titles and single-digit number plates on their ill-gotten cars are a way of giving the owners the right of way, to be served, to avoid summons, to get fast-track applications, and many other things. The poor rakyat, meanwhile, whom the above are supposed to serve, are given roughshod. CJM, just chuck the titles into the Johor Straits.

Inspektor Klueso: For goodness' sake, return the worthless embellishments. "I rather die standing than living on my knees"? Then put your money where you mouth is.

As for the rest of Pakatan folks, return every A-Z trinkets bestowed by the Johor sultanate as a symbol of solidarity and disgust against the monarchy. The present sultan appears to be a seed that did not fall far from the tree - that is, from the previous sultan.

Pity him: I'd be damned if anything that was given/bestowed to me was taken away without a damn word of my misdeeds. Humans just cannot fathom reasoning, only power: power to give money, power to keep money, power to mistreat others.

Nicholas Lim: Saudara CJM, why bother for an explanation? Just give back all the worthless so-called 'medals'. We would respect you just as much if you were just plain Saudara Chua. Rewards will come in the life hereafter, not now.

I wonder why so many people would prepare to sacrifice their integrity and their family names to 'kowtow' just to get these stupid 'medals'. What their contributions are? By the way, can you send the medals back by post?

Sh_silverman: To people like us, we give respect to freedom fighters and to the ones who fought for the people and justice. Medals and titles mean nothing to us. Give him back the medals and we will give you the highest medals - our trust and you will become idols for the future generations.

Artchan: Those who stayed at the Holiday Inn, Johor Bahru - when it was then called (now it is another name) - you could see a lot of drunks late in the night leaving in cars with single-digit plates. Some were so drunk, they openly piss at the entrance of the disco pub. And all Johoreans know who they are.

Lover Boy: Now with what is happening to Johor Baru, some of my latuk ‘fren' also feel pressure. Suddenly they tell me, ‘Just call me by my name only, la . No need latuk . Ah Long also can be latuk , what.'

Mahathir have already told you to behave, you go on like this. No one care to respect you later. Now maybe you got reason to take latuk from CMJ, but explain it to the people, lah .
