Both New Straits Times and The Star led with news that the Education Ministry is studying the possibility of removing two public school examinations - the PMR and UPSR - to remove pressure on schoolchildren.

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian headlined the likelihood that PMR and UPSR will be scrapped.

Utusan also featured Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s rebuttal to the opposition, who claimed that the government is using the alleged threat by terror group Jemaah Islamiah as a means of distraction.

Sinar Harian front-paged news that a mother of four was caught attempting to smuggle drugs in her brassiere.

New Straits Times opined that the only way the Burmese junta can prove that the nation’s upcoming election is democratic is to free wrongly-detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.  

Berita Harian said that all parties should shoulder the responsibility and act to curb the rising trend of illicit sex among youth as young as 13 years old.

Utusan encouraged parents, teachers and NGOs to provide input into the government’s study to abolish the UPSR and PMR public examinations.
