Penang opposition leader Azhar Ibrahim will know his fate when the State Legislative Assembly's Privileges and Rights Committee meet again after the 72nd birthday of Yang Dipertua Negeri Abdul Rahman Abbas which falls on July 10.

State assembly Speaker Abdul Halim Hussain, who is also the committee chairman, said the committee would fix a date after the governor's birthday early next month.

"We do not want to rush on this matter as we still need some time to investigate," he told Bernama after launching the 'Grafix in Reality, The Hidden Pattern of the Third Eye' exhibition at the State Art Gallery, in Penang today.

NONE He said Azhar ( right ), who is also Penaga assemblyman, was expected to attend the meeting this time for him to defend his alleged racist outburst during the recent state assembly sitting.

Abdul Halim said since the matter involved Azhar, he was not allowed to attend the first meeting of the committee which comprised 11 members including Azhar.

It was reported on May 7 that Azhar, during the winding-up speech by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, had said the May 13 riots could recur in the state if Malays were unhappy with the state government.

Jagdeep Singh Deo (DAP-Datuk Keramat) tabled the motion to refer Azhar to the committee.

It was seconded by Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Pantai Jerejak).

Azhar also mentioned a group called "tiga line", in a veiled threat that the gang would not baulk at going against the Pakatan Rakyat state government.
