Asri running to Umno for protection?

Layyong: Asri joining Umno to protect himself from crackdown? So if he does not join Umno, he'll be labelled a Wahhabi and accused of having links to terrorists. But if he joins Umno, he will then be cleared of all allegations.

Shukor Saleh: I still think Operasi Lalang II is on the way. All opposition leaders might be arrested and the next general election called off. This is the safest way for Prime Minister Najib Razak to stay in power.

If Wahhabism and other ‘madhabs' (schools of thought) are not tolerated in Malaysia, I suggest we change the name of Jabatan Agama Islam to Jabatan Agama Shafii.

The IGP (inspector-general of police) can simply link anyone to any organisation, and they will automatically become terrorists? And should the people believe that the Batu Caves temple and Kek Lok Si Temple might be bombed, the police can then take any action and Malaysians won't complain?

I think the IGP must substantiate his claims before we can believe him.

JI, Wahhabism: 'Why is the gov't lying?'

Sabah Maju: Let me offer a theory on why the government is lying. Umno needs to look respectable and pious. Those they can sway to cross over, they buy with money. Islamic scholars and ulama who are not tempted by ‘mammon' (money) are blackmailed to join the party for protection. You help me, I help you. Does this make sense?

Keturunan Malaysia: Cold sweat is no more flowing, but gushing down the spines of BN leaders and they are getting more desperate than desperate desperados. Rest assured, there will be more to come. All sorts of concocted crazy potions will be mixed and stirred into the boiling pot - just to avoid the day of reckoning by the rakyat.

Sh Mdali: BN desperately needs to win the hearts of ignorant Malays, especially kampung folks. They will do anything to stay in power. Iskandarbak: The Umno government is extremely desperate. Their loss of political power is imminent. The groundswell from the rakyat is far too great for Umno to be able to use favours and money to suppress it. Only the elites and a select few cronies are enriched at the expense of the masses. And now, the so-called security threats are being concocted to protect their interests. It is very obvious to the rakyat now, that Umno is stirring up panic and chaos to justify use of force and the ISA as a last resort to hang on to power.

Proarte: The real issue is how many of our Umno mininsters are Al-Qaeda sympathisers? The banning of the word ‘Allah' for non-Muslims and the subsequent High Court quashing of the ban was a pretext for the Al-Qaeda elements in our midst to go on a rampage and bomb churches.

If there is an Al-Qaeda cell in Malaysia then it appears to be working hand in glove with Umno as the ‘Allah' issue was manufactured by none other than Umno. The fact that most Malays have fallen into Umno's trap shows the low level of Islamic understanding amongst Malays.

The Quran recognises that Abraham and Jesus are prophets of Allah, so why all this rubbish talk about Allah not being the God of Christians? Umno Islam clearly does not have the Quran as its central reference and it is sad to see the Malay community being led by nose by an immoral bunch of opportunists who use the name of Islam to divide and rule for their personal gain.

Umno promotes gambling and are using non-Malays as a fig leaf for their immorality.

Anonymous: Umno uses Islam, fear of other races, Ketuanan Melayu, Zionist threat, opposition party problems, etc, to stir the Malays to keep voting for them in order to cling on to power. The real issues of lack of governance, no rule of law, robbing the coffers, mismanagement by not prioritising for the people and the marginalising of certain races are conveniently swept under the carpet and not addressed.

Magnus: In my opinion, only rare sage ‘freedom fighters' are spiritual enough to perhaps ‘fight for God' and do so peacefully without any coercion and without doing any harm or promoting any violence to themselves or others.

So I have a healthy respect for terrorists as I know the depths of violence and evil they are capable of. Terrorists are always political people who fight, kill, maim and cause needless and heartless suffering to others to achieve their own twisted political agenda - usually by pretending to be something they are not, like being 'religious' folk.

But they are not religious. They're more like fascists who want power at all costs so they can impose their ideology/way of life on others, forcibly if need be. Irresponsible politicians, like terrorists, also like to pretend to fight 'for God' at times.

Such politicians also like to use unholy terrorist tactics to scare people needlessly to achieve their hidden political agenda for power, wealth and glory - so be wary of them.

Sarajun Hoda: This is what we get when we allow Jabatan Agama (religious department) people to play God. They are traitors to Islam because every day their likes create hundreds of divisions among Muslims all over the world.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of Islam we are actually practising in Malaysia. Due to these religious zealots, I find us moving further away from our real God, Allah.
