Popular Malay comedian S Shamsudin injured his hip bone after falling from a bed at his daughter's house in Singapore yesterday.

Noredah Shamsudin said her father had been admitted to a hospital and doctors there were examining his condition.

NONE She told Bernama that she had to clarify her father's condition following rumours that Shamsudin (photo, right) had died.

Shamsudin, 81, used to act together with the late P Ramlee, the late AR Tompel and Aziz Satar, and had appeared in more than 30 films.

The Singapore-born actor started his acting career in 1948 in Malay films produced by the Jalan Ampas Studio, Singapore and his popularity rose after acting with Ramlee and Aziz in the Bujang Lapok series.

Last Saturday, Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais visited Shamsudin, who was staying with his daughter at Bukit Batok, Singapore.
