A criminal who shot dead his injured accomplice in a robbery at a goldsmith shop at Plaza OUG, Puchong, last April, was shot dead by police at Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur today.

Police tracked down the 39-year-old criminal at the Jalan Duta toll area about 11am and then trailed him until Bukit Tunku.

Kuala Lumpur Crime Investigation chief Ku Chin Wah said police trailed the suspect, who was driving a Proton Wira car, for about half-an-hour before ramming into the car from behind to stop it.

“The suspect got out of the car and fired two shots at the police. Police returned fire with four shots, two of which hit the suspect," he said when met at the scene.

He said the suspect died at the scene and the body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.

Ku said police searched the suspect's car and found an automatic pistol and a toy pistol. Police also found a packet containing syabu in the suspect’s trouser pocket.

He said the suspect had a previous record for armed robbery, including at the goldsmith shops at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Dang Wangi recently.
