MCA will step up its publicity campaign by countering the opposition's allegations and slander through the new media, said

its president Dr Chua Soi Lek.

He said all divisions were required to appoint between three and five members to take charge of the new media foray to rebut allegations and rumours spread by the opposition.

This will ensure that the people will not be hoodwinked by the opposition's propaganda, he added.

"If this is not addressed, in the long run, the people might believe what were dished out by the opposition were true," he told reporters after attending the ground breaking ceremony of the Tung Hua Chinese Primary School project in Seremban today.

He was commenting on Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein's call for BN component parties to get ready for the 13th general election.

The new MCA leadership focused on ways to strengthen MCA unity, transforming the party and enhancing teamwork, said Dr Chua, adding that the party would ensure that all MCA members register as voters.
