The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry has asked the Veterinary Department to undertake a scientific study to determine whether mutton causes hypertension.

"We all know that many people are still afraid to consume mutton because of the claim that the meat could lead to hypertension and so on.

"But a study by the Veterinary Department revealed that mutton has low cholesterol content compared to the other meat," he told reporters at the Durian and Mutton Promotion Fair organised by the Ministry with the cooperation of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) at the Parliament Multipurpose Hall today.

Meanwhile, Noh said FAMA would hold a Malaysian Durian Fest from July 15 to 20 in Singapore as one of the measures to promote the king of fruits which was getting increasing response in the city state.
