The Kuala Lumpur High Court will hear on Tuesday the application by Hulu Selangor member of parliament P Kamalanathan to strike out the election petition filed by Zaid Ibrahim seeking to declare the

result of the Hulu Selangor by-election null and void.

NONE Justice Azahar Mohamed fixed the date after meeting the lawyers for

all parties in his chambers today.

Zaid, the PKR candidate who lost in the by-election on April 25, had on May 24 filed a petition seeking to nullify the result of the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election alleging that corruption had taken place in the form of bribery and promises of allocations to the voters.

Zaid, who lost to Kamalanathan by a 1,725-vote margin, named Kamalanathan, returning officer Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan and the Election Commission as the respondents.

NONE Kamalanathan ( left ) had applied to strike out the petition on the ground that it was trivial and an abuse of the court process.

He said that Zaid had also failed to identify the people whom he said had been offered with bribes.

Kamalanathan is represented by Mohd Hafarizam Harun, Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin and Cheng Mai while Senior Federal Counsel Suzana Atan and Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusof appear for Nor Hisham and the EC.

Zaid is represented by Ang Hean Leng, Leong Sher How and Azahar Azizan Harun.
