DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has challenged all cabinet ministers and BN component parties to take a stand regarding the conflicting views expressed by BN top leaders on the Malay rights pressure group Perkasa.

"Every cabinet minister and BN component party should take a stand - whether in support of Muhyiddin or Nazri on Perkasa and (the) formation of (a) Chinese, Indian, Iban (and) Kadazan Perkasa," he said in a media statement in Parliament today.

lim kit siang 111204 Kit Siang pointed ( left ) out that Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had given his thumbs-up on this issue, supporting MCA vice-president Donald Lim's idea of a Chinese version of Perkasa.

Kit Siang expressed his support for Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, who opposed this idea.

"I fully agree with Nazri when he described (Donald) Lim Siang Chai's suggestion as ‘ridiculous' as it would only cause racial tension among the Malays and Chinese at a time when the government should be defusing it," he said.

Kit Siang added that Muhyiddin, by supporting Donald Lim's suggestion, has confirmed himself as the foremost opponent of the 1Malaysia concept.

"The question is whether Muhyiddin will have the upper hand if every cabinet minister has to take a stand whether to support Muhyiddin or Nazri on the question of spawning of ethnic (based) Perkasa (groups) in the country," he said.
