The media have been urged to accurately report on Scorpene submarines and not be misled by the opposition.

Deputy Defence Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad said he regretted over claims by certain quarters that one of the two submarines often broke down.

"The submarines, KD Tun Razak and KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, are based in Sepanggar Bay.

"Some people could have seen the submarines berthed at the naval base and made an assumption that they cannot dive.

Abdul Latiff said submarines were not similar to ordinary ships where one could see the crew working on the decks.

"The allegations are alarming the people," he added.

KD Tunku Abdul Rahman arrived at Sepanggar Bay on Sept 17 last year while KD Tun Razak yesterday.

They were built in Toulon, France at the cost if RM3.4 billion.
