'The state-party divide has disappeared to such an extent that civil servants are now giving press conferences in Umno headquarters.'
'Guan Eng rude to interfere in the civil service'
Anonymous: No other chief minister has the guts to stand up to the corrupt civil/Umno servants. The state-party divide has disappeared to the extent that civil servants are now giving press conferences in Umno headquarters. Why am I not surprised?
Good job, Lim Guan Eng, keep putting the civil servants in their place. You run the government and are answerable to us. The civil service are there to follow your instructions, not to dictate their own show.
The fact that state development officer Nik Ali Mat Yunus held the press conference in Umno's office is telling enough on his motives and professionalism, doesn't it?
Pity him: My word, Nik Ali must be untouchable simply because he is a civil servant. The public, not to mention the CM, can hurl accusation at you if they have the facts. Now if you have the facts and CM does not, spell it out. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut.
Newdawn4pg@wordpress: All Penangites know to whom this officer will kowtow to when it comes to the interests of Penang. Just look at the place he held the press conference will let you know very clearly that he is allowed to run riot and disturb the administration of the state.
Playing the blame game is useless at this juncture. However, judging by the 'crater' caused by the sand theft, one was left wondering how such a big crater could have surfaced overnight? As such, not only does this officer need to explain, even his own masters - Umno and Gerakan - must explain why this theft happened during their reign in the state.
Wake up Penangites, this is the case where the robbers are shouting 'robbery' and tried to place the blame on someone else.
Smike27: Nik Ali, I have never heard a civil servant calling any Umno MB 'biadap'. I challenge you to use the same words on any other MB and see what happens to you. Why should you have a press conference at the Umno HQ? You are a civil servant and you should be neutral. You should not be aligned with any political party when you are on duty.
FREE: Haul him up, give him a warning letter for insubordination, put him in cold storage and put someone more capable and efficient in his job since he is so clever and only reports to the chief secretary and does not show any respect to the Penang CM.
And since he wants to have a press conference, the CM should give him a press conference too, and send him back to Putrajaya so he can report to the government chief secretary. The majority of the rakyat will support you, LGE (Lim Guan Eng). Drive all these idiots out from the civil service.
AnakPinang: We like it when useless civil servants who can't do their job get told off - that's what real life is like, Nik Ali.
'Does MACC lack confidence in AG?'
Swipenter: Gobind Singh Deo, I disagree with your analysis that MACC lacks confidence in the attorney-general. In fact, both of them are complementing and conniving with each other to tackle corruption. The public prosecutors stationed at MACC is doing exactly what they are intended to do; go after the ikan bilis with gusto. Big fish, different story.
These must have the AG's consent; no consent, no case, cannot proceed. If the case becomes hot potato, MACC will point its finger at the AG's Chambers. The AG, in turn, points his finger back at MACC and says he needs more evidence before the case can proceed. And then the circle game starts.
At the end of the day, it will be ‘no further action', or the case gets thrown out of court due to insufficient evidence. If you are not in their good books, irrespective of whether you are small or big fish, nobody can help you. They will come after you with all their might and with full force.
Opposition senators: Price hike reasons laughable
Fido Dido: Pakatan Rakyat leaders are more rational than BN. Why must PM Najib Abdul Razak always like to compare us with other countries to justify his actions? For goodness' sake, get some local justifications.
Since when has BN been concerned with the rakyat's health? Hospital fees have also increased. The PM is lucky to be in Malaysia. If he was in Thailand, he would have been thrown out already. Why don't you compare our corruption indexes with other countries?
Free Malaysia: Whenever Pakatan leaders make comments, it makes a ton of sense and it shows them to be the true politicians of the people. It's always a joy to read comments from Pakatan politicians, kudos to them.
DOC: Smoking is bad for health. How about increasing the price of cigarettes by 10 sen? Then use the added revenue to subside the petrol price.
