Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will visit Long Banga in the Baram interior, one of the most remote areas in Sarawak, on Thursday.

According to his itinerary issued by the Information Department, the prime minister will declare open the Sungai Puak bridge in Long Banga before meeting the Orang Ulu people in the area.

This will be Najib's first visit to the remote area, which can be reached either by helicopter or by four-wheel-drive vehicle and requires eight hours of driving along a logging track from Miri.

Najib will then be flown to Pekan Bekenu for another meet-the-people session before attending the "Sentuhan Harapan Petronas" (Petronas' Touch of Hope) at the Senadin Petronas station in Miri.

Najib will later attend a dinner in the city before returning to Kuala Lumpur.
