Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman has advised the public to ignore leaflets circulated in the state, allegedly by opposition political parties, saying the information these contain is incorrect and aimed at tarnishing the government's image.

NONE The leaflets, stating that the BN government has approved the licence to allow betting for the just-concluded 2010 World Cup football tournament, have been circulated in mosques and surau , he said.

The leaflets are a reproduction of a news report which had appeared on Harakahdaily.net .

"The information in the leaflets is wrong. The facts are wrong and have been deliberately produced by the opposition parties.

"I advise the people not to be taken in by the contents of the leaflets.

NONE "We will take appropriate action against those found to have acted in violation of the law," he told reporters as he showed some of the leaflets after chairing a meeting of the state security committee in Kota Kinabalu.

Sabah director of information Azizan Din said some individuals had distributed the leaflets at the mosques during the Friday prayers last week.

"The leaflets stated that the government had approved the licence to allow football betting. This is wrong. Do not be fooled by the information," he said.
