Officers from the Seremban district police headquarters were ordered to call off their raid on the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya about an hour after they appeared unannounced this morning.

NONE The seven-member team of officers were believed to be there to search for a computer belonging to party supreme council member Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

Badrul Hisham was not in the building.

Speaking to reporters after the departure of the police officers, PKR communications chief Johnson Chong ( wearing coat ) said the decision to call of the raid followed discussions between them and PKR representatives.

hindraf probed by police 141008 latheefa koya He said it was found that the warrant the police produced was faulty and had 'technical errors'. Among them, he said, is that it did not state the purpose of the search exercise nor the case under police investigation.

Chong also said he was not sure whether the police would return to the PKR headquarters.

"That is for them to discuss with Badrul," he added.

PKR information chief Latheefa Koya (above right ) had earlier expressed concern over the search, given that the party's computers hold sensitive contents.

"Their presence is disturbing party workers, who are worried that confidential party data will be confiscated,” she told Malaysiakini .

NONE This is the second time the police have aborted a search operation as part of investigations over a blog posting by Badrul Hisham in which he is alleged to have insulted the King and the institution of the monarchy.

The case has been classified under the Sedition Act 1948.

On July 12, the police attempted to visit the same premises to inspect Badrul Hisham’s workplace, but called off the search at the eleventh hour.

Badrul Hisham was earlier arrested on July 9 and was quizzed for three hours.

His house was also ransacked that day but the police took nothing but photographs.

In another development, Badrul Hisham reported to the Seremban District Police Headquarters 2 later this afternoon to extend his bail.

He also surrendered the laptop he has been using to update his blog to the police.

When contacted, Badrul Hisham said that the police promised to return the computer to him within two to three days after forensic officers had looked through it.

"There was no interrogation. They just recorded my statement over the surrender of the laptop," he told Malaysiakini .

Badrul Hisham, who is also Rembau PKR chief, said the meeting with the police last for about an hour.
