Police call off raid on PKR HQ

Joe: Umno is digging deep into its pocket of dirty tricks after failing with Perkasa, racism, religion, 1Malaysia, and Malay 'unity'. It donned the mantle of "public guardian of truth" and, now, it's the 'champion of the monarchy', using these as pretense to intimidate the opposition and crackdown on the oppressed press.

Instead of answering the charges raised by its critics, Umno abuses the power of the state to persecute its opponents. It's the beginning of more to come - a sign of desperation of a cornered and isolated Umno.

Sarajun Hoda: It is so sad that the police is not serving the people but their political masters.

Ferdtan: This is pure harassment by the police. There are crimes in the street that need more attention by the police.

Sarawakian: It's time the police act their own man instead of behaving like Umno guns and goons. No wonder the rakyat has no more respect for them. Don't they have better things to do? The country is infested with all sorts of crimes, for goodness sake!

Arul Inthirarajah: We all remember what the KGB did in the USSR and Stasis did in East Germany prior to the downfall of their rulers. Does that ring a bell?

1Malaysia: No wonder the crime rate is high in this country. The police are more interested in catching opposition leaders and searching their offices.

Call me Jibby: The police has never before raided Utusan Malaysia office and investigated them even after countless articles published in an attempt to create racial disharmony. Back in the early 1990s, Utusan scolded and criticised the sultans too.

Our police force has become bacul (cowardly). Or they are only brave enough to take action against opposition-friendly people and media?

Fido Dido: Let the police raid Pakatan Rakyat offices for Umno's sake. Wait for Pakatan to take over Putrajaya, then the police can raid Umno offices, What goes around comes around.

Geronimo: If the blogger doesn't disclose the username and password, there is nothing the police can do, and on top of it, the hosts are located overseas. Didn't the police do their homework before conducting the raid? So how many police officer are needed to conduct such a raid?

This is terribly counter-productive. The personnel should instead be spending more time patrolling the streets to nab those who are a menace to society instead of going after opposition members who, one day, may rule over them.

Bene: This is typical of PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), spending time to intimidate the opposition because Hishammuddin Hussein is their commander-in-chief for now. We have more cases on the streets that need their attention, especially in Johor Bahru, where our neighbours in Singapore are too afraid to visit and spend their money.

Tourist money is not coming into JB shops, restaurants and business outlets. Pity the JB folks. Even though PDRM claims the crime rate has dropped, you should know what to do at the 13 th general elections.

Singa Pura Pura: Big bullies are little cowards, and little bullies, big cowards. Why don't the big bullies go search for the billions of ringgit that this nation has lost through squander and waste.

Go get the racists, the ultras, the legalised pirates, the kidnappers and rapists, the traffickers of heroin and of women and children, and the murderers of young mothers, young men, young Indians and young schoolgoing boys. Yes, in the name of God, stop your nonsense.

DOC: Our men in blue seem to be so enthusiastic in raiding the PKR HQ, I just wish they can show the same enthusiasm in catching real crooks.

Ronin: I think this is the work of "Was I drinking?" since he's the Rembau MP.

CPL: We should thanks our lucky stars that PDRM is inefficient in so many ways. Brutal force - yeah, they're pretty good on that score. Brawn but no brains.

Civil society leader warns of ISA blitz

Magnus: The ISA (Internal Security Act) for Umno/BN is now, in this free age of the Internet, like the nuclear deterrent is to those who still insist on wasting good money on them (most likely to prop up their own defence industries).

The true reality is that if you use that deterrent, you are guaranteed to lose as it is a lose-lose strategy and option. For nuclear deterrent, I think that lesson was learnt and understood by all from the horrific effects seen at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.

For the ISA deterrent in Malaysia, perhaps the lesson has not as yet sunk in to the brains of the Umno/BN government, even after GE12, but it will be understood I am sure should another atrocity like Ops Lalang ever be inflicted upon Malaysians again, or if the present government continues with its blinkered death wish of not wanting to heed local and international public opinion on the vile law.

Pure Malaysian: Even if BN invoked the ISA, I think they would still lose in the next general election.

Keruah: We are grateful to Malaysians like Mat Sah Mohd Satray, Norlaila Othman and Kua Kia Soong for being willing to speak up even after suffering the injustice of imprisonment without trial.
