Kelantan police today confirmed that post-mortem reports on a naked woman who was found tied to a tree with stab wounds and floating along Sungai Bagan in Pulai Chondong, Machang days ago, confirmed that she was raped.

Kelantan deputy police chief Amir Hamzah Ibrahim said the post-mortem report from Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) confirmed that she was raped but there was no confirmation whether she was stabbed before or after she was raped.

"Claims that she could have been raped more than once has not been established," he told reporters at the Kelantan police headquarters in Pengkalan Chepa today after attending his farewell lunch.

Amir Hamzah said no arrests have yet been made but added that police have identified a suspect and hinted that an arrest would be made soon.

Yesterday, police identified that the naked woman found tied to a tree that was floating in Sungai Bagan as Ilya Nabilah Rosnata, 19, from Kampung Pendek, Kota Bharu.

Based on the stab wounds found on her chest, police believed she was murdered.

Meanwhile, Amir Hamzah who had served the police force for 35 years, since June 18, 1975, would retire on Aug 12.
