The Kelantan Sultan's Office (KSO) today reminded “outside individuals” not to interfere in affairs related to the Kelantan palace by making statements that were not in their scope of

jurisdiction.

Kelantan palace comptroller Abdul Halim Hamad said statements made by Colonel Dr Amir Ramli who was attributed as the Kelantan Sultan’s medical specialist in several newspapers, had no basis whatsoever.

“It is inappropriate for him make criticisms through the media and issue instructions to officers who do not come under his jurisdiction. His reminders may be good, however, they are unsuitable for the occasion and I am not responsible to him in carrying out my duties,” he said in a statement in Kota Baru today.

Dr Amir was reported to have asked Abdul Halim not to make any statements pertaining to the health of Tuanku Ismail Petra, the Sultan of Kelantan.

Elaborating further, Abdul Halim said, to date, his office had yet to receive any notification from the Malaysian Armed Forces stating Dr Amir had been seconded to the KSO.

“His remarks will give rise to questions like ‘who is he’, when in fact no official appointment has been made in regard to his position,” he said.

Abdul Halim  said as the comptroller, he had no wish to make any statements on the health of the sultan and that any made by him were in following instructions.

He said allegations that he and other palace officials never made an effort to see the sultan at the palace also had no basis as what they did was based on the needs from time to time.

“We also need to understand the background happenings in the royal household and the contributions we can make. As the head of the KSO, I meet the sultan at suitable times or when instructed (by the sultan),” he said.

Abdul Halim also reminded Dr Amir not to disclose financial matters like the payment of hospital bills to the press as this was not right.

On July 15, Tuanku Ismail Petra left for Singapore to get follow-up medical treatment for his heart ailment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital and retuned to Kelantan on Wednesday.
