Khalid bewildered over councillor probe 'leak'

MW: As much as I'm a Pakatan Rakyat supporter, I'm also a supporter of such leaks. It's the only way to hold politicians accountable, to keep them on their toes and knowing the risk of being exposed.

Teropong halus: If there were no leaks to the press, perhaps it would have been covered up and swept under the carpet. Was that the original plan? Why are you so angry Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim?

What's wrong if the public knows about it? Isn't that what the press is for? Isn't that freedom of press as practiced by Pakatan? If the press can't expose it, what kind of transparency are you practising?

Independent Malaysian: MB Khalid and the Selangor government should have lodged a report with the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). It is the job of the police and MACC to investigate.

Why is there no report to the police and MACC until now? Why wait so long? Exco Ronnie Liu has already said there was misuse of his letterhead. What else does Pakatan want to investigate?

Keturunan Malaysia: If someone has committed a crime, he/she must be punished, regardless of which side of the border he/she comes from. The 'opposition' can shout and scream all they want, but they cannot disregard the wrongdoers.

All wrongdoers must be punished and seen to be punished. That is a must for Pakatan, as expected by Malaysians, especially the Pakatan supporters. Those who laugh first may not necessarily be the ones having the last laugh, too.

Christopher: YB Khalid, the fact remains that you have initiated an internal probe. I am sure the accused would be turned in for stern disciplinary measures, as well as to MACC.

The difference between Pakatan and BN is that while rogues exist on both sides, Pakatan will investigate and charge the accused if found guilty. But BN will do all they can to sweep the issues beneath the carpet

Remember PKFZ, Eurocopter, Scorpene submarines, approved permits, MV Agusta, MAS, etc. Has anybody of prominence been charged?

Judge Doe: As much as we want to see justice done, by handing the matter over to the MACC, will political influences get the better of the ongoing investigation? The fear of such cases ending up with the guilty being exchanged by way of a quid pro quo cannot be discounted.

Law Kok Soon: Why is it every time that the Pakatan government of Selangor has problems, it is either Hasan Ali or Ronnie Liu is involved? It looks like these two guys have a lot of untold problems.

Tired: Typical Pakatan supporters - blame BN and Umno for every misfortune that befalls PKR, DAP and PAS. Here's a piece of advice - learn to accept the reality that when it comes to money and power, anyone - regardless whether he is from BN or Pakatan - can succumb to corruption and crime.

It is understandable why Pakatan supporters are in denial as it is difficult to accept the truth. Indeed, the truth hurts.

Ferd Tan: Since the allegations of misdeeds are out in the open, MB Khalid must thread carefully in his next move. The BN opposition are rubbing their hands in glee now that they are given the opportunity to hit at the Pakatan government, .

It is within their right to further expose and exploit the situation. That's politics. You can be sure that the MACC and the mainstream media such as Utusan Malaysia , New Straits Times and the Star are on stand-by to move in for the final 'kill', if 'instructed' to do so by Umno. As they are supposed to be independent, that certainly would not be ethical.

So, Khalid, please move fast and be one step ahead of your opponents. If the allegation is proven correct, regardless of who the person is, just remove the cancer from your administration. You may even come out gaining more credit. If the allegation is proven correct, go ahead and make a police report, as forgery is a crime. Forget about MACC.

Carl: Political parties may have their ideologies that they want imposed on others. No difference there anywhere else in the world. Human nature will never change: crooks will be crooks, and whenever given a chance to get rich, very few resist temptations. Umno and its cronies have shown this as an art, but we can never be sure that PKR will not make it a science?

MorningSun: We, the rakyat, will see whether Pakatan is any difference from Umno, helping to cover up culprits and not punishing them. We cannot eliminate such culprits from existence, but we must kick them out when they have done something wrong.

Rakyat Malaysia: Investments to move us up the value chain? In the first place, Malaysia does not even have the necessary workforce to move up the value chain. The tertiary education produces lesser and lesser-quality graduates. The majority of these graduates are not good enough.

Then we have the brain drain and graduates get better offers overseas. So in the end, we are left with BN-graduates, who are al waiting to makan pisang and goyang kaki inside in the civil service. Do civil servants make up the high-income group?

Mikey: Bullocks, Minister Mustapha Mohamed. Don't think the rakyat is stupid. We are probably getting low-end, unskilled labour-intensive industries, having moved down the value chain. Name the high-end RM200 million investment that employs 1,500 graduates if you dare.

Lim Chong Leong: What pathetic reasoning by Mustapha. It's shameful that he can't even lie convincingly. And why is the 1st Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak not coming out with an answer? Is he afraid he would be skewed, so he let the 2nd minister take the heat?

What quality investment is this when they bring in only RM200 million but hire 1,500 persons? What is the quality you are looking for? He is using blabbing rhetoric while we are going bankrupt, like Nero when Rome was burning.

Kgen: What "quality investments" are we attracting? At the low end, we can't compete with Vietnam, China and India. At the high end, we don't have the necessary skilled workforce. The majority of our factories are providing work for foreign unskilled workers, so the owners may as well take their factories to the labour source.

We are in deep trouble because we can't upgrade and we can't downgrade. Umno has put Malaysia in this rut by tainting everything with ‘kulitocracy' instead of meritocracy.
