The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said that the case of Klang municipal councillor Tee Boon Hock's alleged abuse of a state exco’s letterhead to secure personal contracts was under the purview of the police.

Deputy commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdul told Malaysiakini that the matter involved "falsifying of documents" and thus should be investigated by the police.

NONE Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar ( left ) has urged parties with information on the allegatons to come forward and lodge police reports on the matter.

“The parties who made the allegation should come forth and file a complaint,” he told Malaysiakini .

Asked whether the police can proceed with an investigations if they lodged a report themselves, Khalid said that although it is possible, he prefers "to wait" for those members of the public with knowledge of the matter to come forward. 

Both Khalid and Shukri were commenting on a Star front-page report alleging that Tee had since 2008 used Selangor exco Ronnie Liu's letterhead to secure RM1 million worth of contracts for 20 companies purportedly linked to the municipal councillor.

NONE Tee has denied the allegations, and at a press conference this morning said he was contemplating legal action against the English-language daily.

The Selangor police chief had earlier wrote on his Facebook page that he felt that Liu’s statements as reported in Star showed that “there was clearly abuse of power and falsification of state documents”.  

“Investigations must be carried out to avoid any speculation,” he added.

According to Star - which in its report yesterday did not name Tee - Liu had confirmed his letterhead had been misused and that the party was investigating the local councillor.

Liu, however, who was at the press conference with Tee today, denied confirming the statement attributed to him.
