Despatch rider Azuman Shah Ahmad, 23, has been acquitted of arson charge on the Metro Tabernacle Church in Wangsa Maju, on Jan 7, while two brothers will have to enter defence.

The two bothers - Raja Muhammad Faizal Raja Ibrahim, 24, and Raja Muhammad Idzham Raja Ibrahim, 22 - were ordered to enter defence by Sessions Court judge SM Komathy Suppiah.

All three were charged on Jan 29 with committing mischief with fire with the intention of destroying the building.

Previously, the two of the trio’s acquaintances testified that they did not see Azuman Shah at the scene.

The court also heard that the brothers had serious burn injuries on their bodies because they were burning rubbish at their homes.

The three were charged under Section 436 and 34 of the Penal Code, which carries the maximum penalty of 20 years jail and fine if convicted.
