Penang Opposition Leader Azhar Ibrahim will have to face the state legislative assembly rights and privileges committee on Aug 17 over alleged seditious words used during the May sitting.
Speaker Abdul Halim Hussain said the committee’s recommendations would then be tabled in November, adding that Azhar could still attend the sitting then, reported Bernama.
Abdul Halim also announced today that the second meeting of the third session of the Penang state assembly scheduled for this month had been postponed to November.
The postponement was conducted to take into account of the month of Ramadhan fasting month which starts next week and Deepavali on Nov 5.
"The state assembly must meet at least twice in a year and the state government has decided to have two meetings this year," he said.
During the sitting, the state government would table the 2011 state budget, said Abdul Halim.
